ॐ जय शिव ओंकारा, स्वामी जय शिव ओंकारा।
ब्रह्मा विष्णु सदाशिव, अर्द्धांगी धारा॥
Om Jai Shiv Omkara, Swami Jai Shiv Omkara,
Brahma Vishnu Sadashiv, ardhangi dhara.
Victory to you, O Shiva, the primordial Om; Brahma, Vishnu, and the eternal Shiva, who bears the Goddess as half his form.
Verse 1
एकानन चतुरानन पञ्चानन राजे।
हंसासन गरूड़ासन वृषवाहन साजे॥
Ekanan chaturanan panchanan raje,
Hansasan garudasan vrishvahan saje.
You shine as the one-faced, four-faced, and five-faced; adorned with the swan-seat, the Garuda-seat, and the bull as your mount.
Verse 2
दो भुज चार चतुर्भुज दसभुज अति सोहे।
त्रिगुण रूप निरखते त्रिभुवन जन मोहे॥
Do bhuj char chaturbhuj dasbhuj ati sohe,
Trigun roop nirakhte tribhuvan jan mohe.
Two-armed, four-armed, and ten-armed, you shine resplendent; beholding your threefold form, the people of the three worlds are enchanted.
Verse 3
अक्षमाला वनमाला मुण्डमाला धारी।
त्रिपुरारी कंसारी कर माला धारी॥
Akshamala vanmala mundmala dhari,
Tripurari Kansari kar mala dhari.
Bearing the rosary, the forest garland, and the garland of skulls; slayer of the three cities (Tripurari) and destroyer of demons (Kansari), you hold the rosary in your hand.
Verse 4
श्वेताम्बर पीताम्बर बाघम्बर अंगे।
सनकादिक गरुणादिक भूतादिक संगे॥
Shvetambar pitambar baghambar ange,
Sanakadik garunadik bhutadik sange.
White, yellow, and tiger-skin garments clothe your body; the sages (Sanaka and others), Garuda and others, and the spirits attend you.
Verse 5
कर के मध्य कमण्डलु चक्र त्रिशूलधारी।
सुखकारी दुखहारी जगपालन कारी॥
Kar ke madhya kamandalu chakra trishuldhari,
Sukhkari dukhhari jagpalan kari.
In your hands the water-pot, the discus, and the trident; giver of joy, remover of sorrow, sustainer of the world.
Verse 6
ब्रह्मा विष्णु सदाशिव जानत अविवेका।
प्रणवाक्षर मध्ये ये तीनों एका॥
Brahma Vishnu Sadashiv janat aviveka,
Pranavakshar madhye ye teeno eka.
The undiscerning take Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva as separate; yet within the syllable Om these three are one.
Verse 7
लक्ष्मी व सावित्री पार्वती संगा।
पार्वती अर्द्धांगी, शिवलहरी गंगा॥
Lakshmi va Savitri Parvati sanga,
Parvati ardhangi, Shivlahari Ganga.
Lakshmi, Savitri, and Parvati are at your side; Parvati is half your form, and the surging Ganga is yours.
Verse 8
पर्वत सोहैं पार्वती, शंकर कैलासा।
भांग धतूर का भोजन, भस्मी में वासा॥
Parvat sohain Parvati, Shankar Kailasa,
Bhang dhatur ka bhojan, bhasmi mein vasa.
Parvati graces the mountain and Shankar his abode on Kailasa; bhang and datura are his fare, and his dwelling is amid the ashes.
Verse 9
जटा में गंगा बहत है, गल मुण्डन माला।
शेष नाग लिपटावत, ओढ़त मृगछाला॥
Jata mein Ganga bahat hai, gal mundan mala,
Shesh Nag liptavat, odhat mrigchhala.
The Ganga flows through his matted locks and a garland of skulls hangs at his throat; the serpent Shesha coils about him and he wears a deerskin.
Verse 10
काशी में विराजे विश्वनाथ, नन्दी ब्रह्मचारी।
नित उठ दर्शन पावत, महिमा अति भारी॥
Kashi mein viraje Vishwanath, Nandi Brahmachari,
Nit uth darshan pavat, mahima ati bhari.
In Kashi dwells Vishwanath, with the celibate Nandi; daily the devotees take his darshan, and his glory is immense.
Verse 11
त्रिगुणस्वामी जी की आरती, जो कोई नर गावे।
कहत शिवानन्द स्वामी, मनवान्छित फल पावे॥
Trigunswami ji ki aarti, jo koi nar gave,
Kahat Shivanand Swami, manvanchhit phal pave.
Whoever sings this aarti to the Lord of the three gunas — says Swami Shivananda — obtains the fruit their heart desires.
