Skandha 10 of 12 · 90 adhyayas — Srimad Bhagavata Mahapurana (Gita Press, Gorakhpur)

Dashama Skandha — The Tenth Book

दशम स्कन्ध

The heart of the Bhagavatam: Krishna's birth, his childhood in Vraja, Mathura, Dvaraka — ninety chapters of one life.

What happens in this skandha

Krishna is born in Kamsa's prison and carried across the Yamuna to Gokul. In Vraja he steals butter, is tied by his mother, shows her the universe in his mouth, subdues Kaliya, lifts Govardhana and dances the Rasa. He goes to Mathura and ends Kamsa, sends Uddhava back to the grieving gopis, builds Dvaraka, marries Rukmini, and receives his poor brahmana friend. Four of the seven days of a Bhagavata Saptah are spent in this book.
